I have good news for my fellow movie buffs – we Texans live in a state full of great cities for movie lovers. Texas dominates the list of a study revealing the best U.S. cities for movie lovers. 

Even though I don’t go to the theater nearly enough these days, I’ll be the first to say that there is no better way to watch a flick. Sure, home theaters have come a long way, but there’s nothing like the experience of watching on the big screen.

As I’m writing this, I realize that even though I love to road trip to some of the biggest cities in Texas, I rarely catch a movie outside of Wichita Falls. Admittedly, I’m typically thinking with my belly when I visit another city and am on a quest to try a new restaurant. 

Austin Named a Top Movie City

However, I probably need to expand my explorations to include movie theaters I’ve never visited – especially when I’m in Austin. Our state capital was named the fourth best city for movie lovers in the country, in a study by the social casino website McLuck. San Antonio, Dallas, El Paso, and Houston also made the top 20.

How Researchers Ranked the Best Cities

Researchers compared the 100 most populated cities in the country using factors such as the number of movie theaters, indie venues, theater ratings, and ticket prices to reach their conclusions. So yeah, that’s a pretty good look for the Lone Star State. We movie lovers are in the right place.
