Lubbock Smokes!

There are any number of great barbeque spots around the Hub City (and nearby). There are also any number of great locals who put  some mouthwatering smoke up in the air every weekend. I believe we're mostly brisket people, though some ribs, sausage, chicken, and a few other items occasionally make their way to the plates. With all of these people professional and armature getting their reps in, it's no wonder we actually did well as one of the best barbeque spots in America.

How It Was Figured

So what was the criteria for inclusion. The site Lawnstarter.com used 20 metrics in all, from how easy it was to actually go out and get barbeque, to competition awards. There is a lot of science behind all the numbers so it's reasonable to think that they may have got it right.

Where We Placed

Now ordinarily #48 wouldn't seem like bragging rights, but for little ol' Lubbock to place that high on a list of around 500 is pretty darn good. Also, remember #48 is for the whole barbeque scene and not just a particular place or two. For comparison, Amarillo comes in at #101 and Odessa at #111.

Other Texas Cities

So what Texas cities beat us? Houston is #3, Austin is #7, San Antonio comes in at #8, Midland at #12 (why so high when Odessa is so low?), Dallas is #21, and Fort Worth at #34. There's a whole slew of other Texas cities and you can see who else from across the country beat us right here.
