Texas Tech Student Receives Awesome Surprise On The Today Show

Texas Tech student Blake Porter has had a pretty awesome string of luck lately, and from what I can tell, he deserves it.

During the Texas vs. Houston game, Blake attempted a 94-foot put challenge and sunk it in! But that's just a part of his string of luck.

Blake was one of hundreds of Texas Tech students that lined up to get into the game. Since the game was sold out, seats were limited and its possible he could have been turned away.

After making it into the game, Blake also made the nearly impossible shot- winning some fun prizes and a priceless moment with Patrick Mahomes. In his excitement, Blake ran up to Mahomes, and the two exchanged a shoulder bump.

Blake then was invited onto the Today show to reenact his amazing putt, and he very nearly made it in again. Then he got a special surprise from Patrick Mahomes again.

In a recorded video, Mahomes announced to Blake that his next semester's tuition would be paid, and he was told he'd be receiving even more fabulous prizes.

I watched the (nearly*) entire segment, and I have to say, Blake comes across as a very genuine and grateful person. He represented himself, Lubbock, and Texas Tech very well with a lot of charm and a great personality. And most importantly, he was very sweet to his Mom, who was in tears after the tuition news.
