Texas Student Dies in Twin’s Arms After Tragic Stabbing at School Track Meet
FRISCO, Texas - A 17-year-old high school student is facing murder charges after a confrontation at a school track meet turned deadly.
Around 10 am Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025, 17-year-old Austin Metcalf was stabbed in the heart by another 17-year-old student, Karmelo Anthony, who was allegedly upset at being told he was sitting in the wrong place.
Metcalf reportedly did not know the student who attacked him. His identical twin brother was close by when the confrontation broke out. Not only did he see him get stabbed, but he also tried to stop the bleeding and save his brother, who tragically died in his arms.
Austin Metcalf was the MVP of his football team, had a 4.0 GPA, and had a bright future ahead of him with plans to attend college.
His father, Jeff Metcalf, shared that his twin boys were "inseparable" and that Austin was born two minutes before his twin brother Hunter. He also shared that while he has forgiven his son's murderer, he is puzzled by what kind of parenting could lead a child to not only bring a knife to a track meet, but to stab another person to death over being asked to move seats.
More than 100 students were present at the track meet from 8 different schools. No other injuries were reported.
I'm not sure how many more devastating stories on student violence in Texas I can handle. It seems to be a terrifying and growing trend.
