Texas Man Charged With Capital Murder Ate His Victim’s Hearts

Jason Thornburg was found guilty of capital murder last week for killing and dismembering three people in September 2021. The Tarrant County jury who convicted him is now given the task of deciding whether or not he will receive the death penalty or spend the rest of his life in prison.

Thornburg admitted to investigators that he felt a compulsion to sacrifice his victims in a ritualistic manner and that he even ate their hearts and other portions of their bodies, which he stored underneath the bed in his motel room in Euless, Texas, before eventually tossing them into a Fort Worth dumpster and lighting them on fire.

In court, Thornburg's attorneys argued that he was suffering from a severe mental disease and that he was criminally insane at the time he carried out the murders.

Thornburg was initially arrested after confessing to the authorities that he'd killed his roommate in 2021 in a home explosion. He also admitted to killing his girlfriend in 2017. It was eventually determined he was guilty of murdering three people. Thornburg claims he was called to "commit sacrifices."
