A Dallas doctor convicted in April of intentionally poisoning patients, leading to injuries and one death, has finally received his sentence- 190 years.

According to CBS News, sentencing was originally set for July this year but was pushed back to September.

Raynaldo Ortiz, a former anesthesiologist at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Center in North Dallas was caught on camera tampering with the bags.

Above is a screen capture of the video. You can see Ortiz watching to ensure the coast is clear to poison a bag.

After Ortiz would tamper with a bag, a patient would have a severe, adverse reaction to the drugs. The bags were found to have holes in the plastic wrap surrounding them.

The bags were found to contain Bupivacaine. Bupivacaine is, "a potent local anesthetic," according to the National Health Institute.

Misuse of the drug has severe and potentially fatal consequences, including tremors, coma and cardiac collapse.

He did this many times- injuring at least 10 people who were all rushed to the emergency room. He also killed his colleague Dr. Melanie Kaspar, who took an IV bag home to help her with dehydration.

Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Center was forced to close its doors after Ortiz's crimes came to light.

Rather than face his victims as they made their impact statements, Ortiz listened in another room. The victims spoke about their long-term physical injuries and how badly the incidents affected their mental health.

Dr. Melanie Kaspar's husband described his wife's eyes- which were open and lifeless as they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

After the victim's statements, Chief U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey handed down the maximum sentence he could- 190 years.
