Texas-Based Teslas Are Being Egged, Cheesed & Otherwise Vandalized
If you have a Tesla, you may want to park it in your garage for a while.
Tesla, headquartered in Austin, Texas, has gotten some fallout due to the recent actions of owner Elon Musk. Some dealerships have been vandalized.
Additionally, sales of Teslas have tanked, particularly in European countries. In January, European sales of Teslas were down a whopping 45%. Meanwhile, sales of electric vehicles in general were up 18%. Yeowch.
Now, individual owners have reported their Tesla vehicles being egged, covered in dog poo, spray-painted, and even covered in Kraft singles.
The Tesla that was "cheesed" was owned by a Dallas man, according to Chron- so the anti-Musk sentiment is even in his now "home" state.
Between being vandalized and being associated with a man whom they might not agree with politically, some Tesla owners are experiencing buyer's remorse.
Tesla owners are either buying bumper stickers saying they bought the car before knowing "Elon was crazy," or even reselling or returning them.
Upon returning his vehicle, one man filled out a survey saying, "that Musk has irretrievably damaged the brand, and I would not associate with that brand again, period."
Of course, Musk doesn't seem to care about slumping Tesla sales or who has to scrap cheese off of their windshield.
Teslas have had a fair share of controversy even before Musk's involvement with DOGE- the beginning of this year saw one man blow up himself and a Tesla vehicle in front of a Trump property.
Telsas have also been the subject of several recalls- some very serious. And Tesla stock took a huge tumble last year.
Will all this result in Teslas going the way of Hummers or DeLoreans? It's entirely possible, and I think we may know sooner than later.
