Police and firefighters in North Richland Hills were called to the scene of a terrible bee attack last Tuesday. A man and woman were both hospitalized after being ravaged by a swarm of bees at the 8000 block of Cross Drive just after noon. Beekeepers are working to contain bees and wasps found in the area and have warned residents to stay indoors while they handle the situation. The man attacked is reportedly still in critical condition.

Have you seen a ton of bees out lately? There's a pretty good reason for it.

You'll find an uptick in bee and wasp activity during the fall because they are extra protective of their nest when their food sources start depleting due to the change in weather. Hives also send out more foragers when the weather starts to cool off to find more food, which is why you're likely to see more and more hanging out near your garbage or left-out Coke can in the backyard. They are trying to come up with enough grub to last through the winter, and they can be totally rude about it! They just might come for you if they feel the least bit threatened.

If you come across a large beehive or wasp nest, it's best to steer clear and call a local pest control service or the city for help. Bees are good guys and a beekeeper will come to take them to a better place to live. Wasps on the other hand? I don't care what happens to those guys... They can kick rocks.
