Bigger In Texas

I have written about the Biggest Burrito in Texas before. It's a massive 10-pounder made by Taco's La Shula in Orange, Texas. It's a burrito that's made mostly for eating contests and it's been featured on several YouTube videos. It certainly looks like more like a cheese covered snake than a burrito when it's all laid out there.

The Biggest

Something got me thinking though...I frequently see people on my social media asking where they can get a "BIG" breakfast burrito. Now, if at this point you're thinking, "well a burrito is  burrito" then you don't belong in Texas. Breakfast burrito's are a whole thing here. They are easy to "one-hand" on your way to work and can be packed with all the eggs and extras you want!

Is It Fresh?

So, my search for the "Biggest Breakfast Burrito In Texas" was successful, but pretty dated. In 2020 a place called Recio's Smokehouse Restaurant started producing 4 to 5 pounders at what I consider a bargain price of $14.99.  A place called "Taco Joint" in Dallas had a 5-pounder for $19 but I'm a little unclear if it's still an active thing. It has also been featured on several competitive eating challenges. It does seem like the field is wide open for someone to take the title of "Biggest Breakfast Burrito Maker" if they are so inclined.

Just Eat More!

So "why" get the biggest breakfast burrito to begin with? I'm not so sure about the answer to that. Maybe people want a better ingredients to tortilla ratio, of they just haven't thought it through and just ordered multiple breakfast burritos. I would conclude with, if you're in Texas you should have no problem finding a local place that will hook you up with a 3-egger, and that's about all the breakfast burrito that most people can handle.
