Portraits with a Difference: See Texas Faces in a New Light
The assignment was nutty, the results were heartwarming.
The Assignment
I think I accidently created an art project. I just kind of wanted to see who was out there. My thought was that people might be a bit bashful if I asked for them to do a full-on selfie, so I hit upon the idea of, "Post a selfie with no more than 1/4 of your face". The response was great, but it's better than that. I feel like people actually revealed a lot about themselves by showing less of their features.
The Results
After combing through these photos and readying them for upload, I noticed that these pictures, featuring only part of a face, somehow give you a deep, non-judgy look of the people as humans. Since it was just 1/4 of a face, no one really posed or used filters, no one seems to have primped or done anything other than quickly carryout the assignment. It's also interesting how some chose eyes, but there are noses, chins, beards, and even one where the face was mostly blocked by a cat. So, thanks to all, I appreciate you and I hope you had fun with this as well.
