Did you know Halloween was prom season? It is in Lubbock.

Did you miss your prom? Are you ready for another one? What if I told you that you could celebrate prom and Halloween at the same time?

You have a chance to do just that.

The Patterson Library in Lubbock is hosting a Zombie Prom on Saturday, October 10th.

Doesn’t that sound like a blast? Zombie makeup is always fun to do, and the look works with or without actual prom wear. Still, it would be pretty easy to pick up a cheap suit, dress or other formal wear at a secondhand store and zombify it.

Here's How To Take Your Zombie Wear To The Next Level

  • Rip it up a little. Make some small cuts in the fabric, especially in high-wear spots like the collar, sleeves and cuffs. Then give those cuts a few good pulls to create that “snagged on something while escaping the undead” look.
  • Add some grime. Rub coffee grounds or damp tea bags around the armpits, neckline and other places where things would naturally get dirty. If you’re feeling artistic, dilute a little black, brown or green paint and lightly spray or dab it here and there.
  • Bring on the fake blood. You can grab some at your favorite Halloween store, or use red paint around some of the areas where you ripped your costume. Just remember, a little splatter can go a long way.

Now that you’re the best-dressed zombie in town, head over to the Patterson Library on Saturday, October 10th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

They’ll have the place decked out, zombie dance tunes playing, and they’ll even crown a King and Queen of the Zombie Prom.

The event is recommended for ages 13 and up with parental permission.
