I guess we caught this one before the official launch.

You may or may not have heard me regale my morning show partner with tales of hot dogs. The hot dog funk that comes from my office can also be quite overwhelming. I stand in awe of the giant signature brand hot dogs available at United Supermarkets. I am all for large, quality wieners (don't bring any of those cheap 'red dogs' around me).

I'll have that hot dog pretty much any way I can get it. I was head over heels for the Chicago dogs that were (still are?) available at Sonic and Wienerschnitzel. I will also on occasion make a chili dog big enough to fry your brain. My favorite setup is actually mustard, mayo (yes!), relish, and onions. To me, that is how a dog should go down, with plenty of zing and lubrication.

This kind of hot dog fandom is also why I'm intrigued by the concept of "Texas Style Dogs". I have never, ever thought of any version of a hot dog being proprietary to the State of Texas. My guess is that it would have to be all-beef in honor of our cattlemen, but I don't know what else. I do know that the vendor in question also has a signature mustard, so I guess that's all we know for now, "Texas Style" probably involves a beefy mustard dog (but we can always hope for teeny-tiny cowboy hats).

I have to tell you that I know nothing of "Boy Howdy Hotdogs-Texas Style Dogs". I was struck by the name, because "Boy Howdy" was the mascot of my favorite rock magazine while I was growing up (Creem, which by the way, is back in publication). As for when all of this gets launched is unclear, but their Facebook page says, "soon".
