
Retail Giant J.C. Penney Closes Warehouse In Texas, Eliminating 300 Jobs
According to Retail Dive, J.C. Penney will close a Texas supply chain facility later this year, affecting approximately 300 jobs.
Which J.C. Penney Warehouse Is Closing?
The Alliance Supply Chain facility in Haslett, Texas, will close by November 1st, 2025.
Haslett is part of the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex and has a population of about 3,800 people.

The layoffs will happen in two waves- the first being in August and the second in November.
J.C. Penney stated that the affected employees will receive some assistance, including severances:
We appreciate the contributions of all affected associates, who had been previously notified of our decision, and are committed to supporting them with transition resources, including severance and benefits.
J.C. Penney experienced a significant tumble in sales in 2024- nearly 9%. For a retailer of J.C. Penney's size, closures of stores and support infrastructure are almost guaranteed in these circumstances.

Earlier this year, J.C. Penney closed 7 stores across the country (although none of those locations were in Texas).
Are Warehouse Jobs In Peril In Texas?
It appears that warehouse jobs are mostly safe in Texas, and that when "one door closes, another opens," or perhaps two or three. According to Warehouse And Fulfillment, even when other sectors saw employment slowdown, warehouse and logistics jobs saw unexpected growth.
And as someone who formerly worked for a warehouse, I know the skills I learned there would be transferable to another similar environment. It was a good job and I'm glad I had the opportunity to work there. So don't let news of one warehouse closing prevent you from applying at another.
