Halloween Already Haunting Lubbock—And I’m Here for It

Summer has barely gotten started, and Halloween is already creeping in—and I’ve got the photos to prove it.

It’s no secret that I love Halloween. Actually, it’s more accurate to say I live Halloween. There’s a little bit of spooky season in almost everything I do.

My love of Halloween dates back to my trick-or-treating days. I’m old enough to remember when parents let us run wild through the neighborhood with no supervision. It was creepy, sugar-fueled freedom—and we loved every second of it.

That love for all things eerie eventually showed up in my taste in music. Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper were some of my early favorites. I’d also always stop to watch the old black-and-white monster movies and never missed the annual showing of Mad Monster Party.

Then something unexpected happened: I opened a Halloween-themed amusement park. That passion turned into a purpose, giving others a chance to share in the spooky joy. Now, my partner and I are proud to say we’ve opened a second location.

I'm telling you all this to explain just how fired up I get when Halloween décor starts hitting the shelves. It usually rolls in right after the Fourth of July, but like everything these days, it’s creeping in earlier and earlier. It won’t be long before Halloween and Christmas decorations are side by side on store shelves.

Halloween Decorations Are Hitting Stores Early

Recently, I heard online whispers that At Home stores had started putting out their Halloween stock. So we made the trip. It looks like about half of the inventory is out in Lubbock, and we watched in real-time as employees were stocking more while we “oohed” and “ahhed” over what was already on display.

If you’re a fellow Halloween fanatic, you’ll enjoy this quick look at some of what you can find in Lubbock right now.
