BIG & Bold Flavor: Which Coffee Shops Reign Supreme In Texas?
Here in Texas, we like everything BIG- especially the big, bold flavor of a delicious coffee drink.
According to San Antonio Current, a study showed that 27% of the average Texan's fluid intake is coffee and, um alcohol. We should drink more water. But have you ever had an espresso martini?
During the day I love a traditional latte- and so do the majority of Texans, according to CW 33 News.
I usually order it hot, but the most popular coffee drink in Texas is the iced latte- which tracks. It is hot here 400 of the 365 days each year (except for the 2 days it's -9000 degrees, of course).

So where do Texans go to get their fix? It's a big state with many coffee shops.
I like to try as many local places as possible, but sometimes we want something fast and consistent to stave off that caffeine headache.
That's where the now-ubiquitous coffee drive-thru comes in. Many coffee shops now only have a drive-thru option. Which is why I save my "hanging out" coffee trips for local places.

Of course, one coffee chain reigns supreme, and it is a hybrid drive-thru/drink-inside model. Starbucks has more locations than any other coffee chain in Texas. But that doesn't diminish the impact of its competitors.
You might be surprised to know that Texas has more locations of a few of these chains than the state they orginated in. If that doesn't show you the economic power of our state, I'm not sure what else could.
So the next time you grab a quick cuppa, the odds are pretty good that you'll end up at one of these coffee chains.
