The Gaelic festival of Beltane will be celebrated on Saturday, May 10th, in Lubbock. Expect a full day of magic, crafts, food and fellowship to celebrate the kickoff of Summer.
This isn't the first go-around for these artists, craftsman, and others; this is in fact, the 17th Beltane In The Park Festival.
Beltane is one of four Gaelic festivals, this one to celebrate the beginning of Summer. If you were going to make a direct comparison to other, slightly more recognizable festivals, it's a Mayday get-together. It will be held May 10th from 11 a.m. to just after 5 p.m. at Clapp Park, 46th and Avenue W.
There will be assorted rituals and celebratory moments throughout the day, as well as local vendors and workshops. In general, you'll find a feel-good vibe of people in the park celebrating nature and the changing of the seasons.

Beltane Gives Lubbock Residents A Chance To Celebrate Nature

Big Mike's food truck will be on hand, but there is no problem at all if you want to pack in food, and it's recommended that you bring plenty of water and drinks for yourself. While we're on the topic of what you should bring, don't forget sunscreen, bug spray, and folding chairs or a blanket to sit on.
If you're interested in participating in some of the workshops or seminars, you may want a notepad or even your own tarot cards.

Lubbock's Beltane Celebration Is For Everyone

These are some very open-minded folks, and will be bringing a little bit of Mexican culture to this traditionally Irish event, in the form of La Limpa, the egg cleansing ritual. A craft table will also be set up, free of charge, so you can make your own flower crown.
Beltane in the Park is a free event, and all are welcome. The opening ritual is at 11 a.m., with the closing ritual at 5 p.m.
