10 Things New Businesses In Lubbock Need To Stop Doing
If you knew the failure rate for new businesses, you might choose to just go to Las Vegas and place all your money on black instead.
Not For Wimps
It's tough out there for new businesses. Thankfully there are a bunch of hard-headed people out there who "know they're right" and are ready to fill gap. If it wasn't for a few of these people, we'd have no successful businesses at all. So much goes into having a new business, that I thought I'd drop a few tips that will at least make prospective business owners think.
Not Included
Believe it or not, I didn't include location in this list. That is so universally known, it didn't seem like I could provide any additional insight. I will tell you that I once owned "The coolest bar in town" and convinced myself I had the right location for it, but time ultimately proved it was not. This list is really more about things some of the aforementioned "hard heads" need to think about and admit to themselves.
Disclaimer
I did include advertising or rather "under-advertising" on this list. I don't want to seem like I'm being self-serving, so I'd like to expand on that. I checked out one of the businesses that failed in the last year or two, and they were posting on their social media about every two or three months. What? If you have no customers, you have time to say, "come on down" or put up a picture of your food and drink. That kind of thing is just the bare minimum, and if you're not willing to do that, then you're not going to make it. Hopefully a new business is smart enough to get some paid advertising going, but there's no excuse for not using the free stuff that's available to you.
The List
Anywhoo, agree or disagree with me on the following 10 items. I'm sure there are plenty more that need to be discussed, but here's a smattering of thoughts for you. I hope you'll at least think about these when launching a new business. Good luck!
