One of my favorite things about Victoria is the Victoria Public Library and one of my favorite people in Victoria just happens to be Jessica Berger, the director of the Victoria Public Library.

She recently posted a blog on the City page inviting you all out for a summer full of fun.

And that is exactly what I love about VPL. There is always something fun happening, which just encourages more love of reading!

"This year, the library invites you to join the celebration of our 50th anniversary and attend the variety of events that we are hosting. These events include:

  • Children’s collaborative wooden puzzle art that will be displayed in the library.
  • A scavenger hunt for adult patrons with a rebus puzzle leading to a golden ticket hidden in the stacks.
  • A time capsule event where patrons can write, draw, and share memories about the library.
  • A special family story and craft time where parents can take their children to create and learn.

The library will also have a historical milestone activity, with a new social media post every month with a different milestone. These posts will help patrons, specifically the history fanatics, learn more about the Victoria Public Library’s past, and how it became what it is today. "

This summer the VPL is also looking for artists too!

During this summer, patrons can celebrate the library’s birthday by designing a limited edition library card.

The winning design will be used to promote Library Card Sign-Up Month in September.

"Along with these family events, the library is hosting an adult cocktail event. The Victoria Public Library has never done an event such as this one, and we are very excited to test the waters— or dare I say, cocktails— of a new event," Jessica concludes.

And why not, the Victoria Public Library is turning 50 years young after all! /AI/ChatGPT/ILS
