Easter is this Sunday and those little yellow marshmallow candies shaped like chicks and known as "Peeps" are everywhere. They are usually used to fill someone's Easter basket. The yellow chicks were the original shape, but now there are also different shapes used for various holidays.
There are contests and competitions like the "Peep Off", where contestants see who can eat the most in 30 minutes. It's held the first Saturday after Easter. Why? Because that's when Peeps are discounted and "cheap". Sorry about that.
People have joked that Peeps are indestructible. In 1999, scientists at Emory University used, among other things, boiling water and liquid nitrogen to destroy batches of Peeps. They found that the eyes of Peeps "wouldn't dissolve in anything".
Well, as you enjoy your Peeps, here are some efforts to destroy those marshmallow critters.
