Gunner grew up in Chicago and left at age 20 to travel the country and work on-air. He's lived all over the place and is now happy to be planted and staying put. When he's not waking up early and hanging out with Gwen on the Lonestar 92.3 Morning Show and playing your favorite country songs, you'll find him in the office working behind the scenes... He is also Brand Manager for Lonestar 92.3 and our sister station, 99.9 KBAT. He's excited to be here and he and his wife Vicki are looking forward to exploring West Texas and taking it all in... playing mini golf, going to movies, or grilling on the patio with the radio on.

Texas Ranks First In Nation With Unfinished Construction
In the Midland-Odessa area, you see a lot of it. Half-finished new homes and apartment complexes that have been sitting deserted, surrounded by fencing--scaffolding still in place, with no windows installed yet...
Texas Grillin’-Are You Team Charcoal Or Team Gas?
It's an adventure to grill in West Texas either way with the wind that never seems to stop...
Every House In Texas Must Have These 7 Things… Does Yours?
In my travels, I have noticed there are certain things that are common house to house, street to street, and neighborhood to neighborhood. Does this describe YOUR house here in Texas?
See The Most Expensive Place To Live In Texas
Gas prices are thru the roof, groceries are more expensive than they have been in years, and the cost of everything is going up. Rent was already expensive here in West Texas-especially in Midland and Odessa. And the real estate market is on the upswing with oil back and in high demand. Even with all that being said-this zip code in Texas is STILL the most expensive one to live in
When Severe Weather Causes Floods In West Texas–You Go Boating!
I've seen neighbors with Speed Boats on trailers down my street all hitched up to trucks getting ready to pull out and head to a vacation spot in order to be able to enjoy their boats; I'm sure they wish something like this was deep enough so they didn't have to travel somewhere a few hours from here (I've heard that San Angelo is the closest place to do some actual boating or jet ski riding) but since I'm not from here I'm at the mercy of the words of native West Texans. I've only driven THROUGH San Angelo when my wife and I took a trip to San Antonio last year, so you couldn't prove it by me. This is a great example of taking something unpleasant (flooding) and turning it into something fun to do-and I love it.
3 Things That Everyone Who Goes To Whataburger Knows
In Texas, we *LOVE* us some Whataburger! And if you ever leave the state for any reason, you miss one being nearby to grab a tasty #1 and a Dr Pepper Shake! And even though there are locations that are starting to pop-up in other states (Patrick Mahomes has brought the Texas favorite to Missouri!) among other locations, we all know there are certain things you can always count on when you stop by the big Orange W BESIDES the drive-thru line being long:
3 Places The REST Of America WISHES It Had That Exist In Texas
There are certain businesses in all different categories--restaurants, bars, concert venues, sports teams, stores... that are unique to a specific area of the country that, when we're on vacation or make a business trip thru a certain area we like to stop and partake in the joy and goodness. One example of that would be In & Out Burger. It all started in California and worked its way south and east, landing in Arizona and Texas. And even though it doesn't exist here in the Basin or even as close as Lubbock (they were SUPPOSED to head there a couple of years ago but then sold the land they had purchased and bailed out)... But that's one example of a place people love that's specific to a certain region. Here in the Lonestar State-we have those too
What Should The Official Meal Of The State Of Texas Be?
We eat pretty well here in the Lonestar State. So I think we can do better than JUST CHILI as an official state meal. What would YOU add to the list? Comment below and tell us!
Texas Cities’ Names That Would Make Great Baby Names
The Lone Star State is majestic in so many ways, we can't list them all in this article. One of the ways is all of the amazing cities that exist within its borders. Each location with it's own set of sites to see, things to learn, and experiences all unique to themselves-all within the borders of one State. Very similar to Texas cities. So why not choose a name for your newborn from the amazing tally of names right here at home? There are over 1,200 cities within our borders here, and we won't list them all. If you know of one we miss, add it to the comments below so we can inspire new parents to pick a name that ties their little bundle of joy to home.
Driving In West Texas-You Never Know WHAT You’ll See On The Road!
Driving home from work can be an adventure. For that matter, so can driving TO work. You just never know what you're going to see either ON the road in front of you causing you to swerve to avoid hitting it (as is the case here), or what is laying on the shoulder or roadside. For today's fun, I was on Loop 250 at the Midkiff Exit when I had to flip to the passing lane to avoid hitting---of all things---A BASSINET! It was missing its hood or topper but didn't look like a typical crib so I'm guessing that's what this is. Reminded me of the old Bugs Bunny cartoon with the criminal who was the size of a baby, who dressed himself in a onesie but had a five o'clock shadow on his face... I think they called the character "Baby Finster".

You Can’t Break A Window To Save A Dog In A Hot Car In Texas
Right now in the Basin-temperatures are cold/cool due to the season. But here in 3 weeks-it's the first day of Spring (March 20th) and we begin the warm-up. Summertime temperatures in Texas-especially here in the Permian Basin--are usually between 90 and 100 degrees for daytime highs. The sun knows no mercy. So when I see people here running errands with their dogs in the car and running into stores, leaving their dogs locked in hot car-it angers me. Right now, there is no law in Texas that makes it illegal to do so but there should be. Even leaving the windows "cracked" isn't good enough. Suggestion: If you're running errands that require you to be in stores for long periods of time-LEAVE YOUR DOG AT HOME.
