There will now be four candidates running for Lubbock Mayor in the city election.

Last Friday, Ysidro Gutierrez filed his paperwork to run for mayor with the City Secretary's office.

Gutierrez is a former Lubbock County Commissioner. He represented Precinct 3 from 2004-2008, as a Democrat and then switched to the Republican Party when he didn't run for re-election in 2008. Gutierrez ran for Precinct 3 again, as a Republican in 2012, but lost to Gilbert Flores, the Democrat candidate.

Gutierrez will be running against Victor Hernandez, Dan Pope and Todd Klein in the race for Lubbock Mayor.  Current mayor, Glen Robertson, is not running for re-election. Instead he is running in the Republican Primary for the 19th Congressional District.

The City of Lubbock election will be held on Saturday, May 7.
