It's time for this year's Operation Turkey. You can help! They are packaging and delivering meals on Thanksgiving to those in need.

It's not too late to sign up and kids are welcome to come along to help and enjoy the celebration. Whatever time you have to give is appreciated.

If you would like to help but can't make it on Thanksgiving, there are other ways that you can support the effort. Donations for care packages are accepted at the Turkey Tailgate.

The Turkey Tailgate is the party for the volunteers. More than 100 turkeys are smoked for Thanksgiving Day meals. Turkey, food and beverage donations are accepted, as well as clothing and care packages. Monetary donations are always accepted to help with the purchase of food. You can also purchase a volunteer t-shirt at the tailgate.

The Turkey Tailgate is Wednesday November 23rd, from 7:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. at the 50 Yard Line Steakhouse.

Operation Turkey is sponsored by Lubbock County's Sheriff's Department, Lubbock Fire and Rescue, Bighams Smokehouse and 50 Yardline Steakhouse in Lubbock.

Operation Turkey also operates in several cities across Texas and the U.S.

You can get further details at Operationturkey.com.

All donations are tax-deductible and go directly towards the cost of food. They are 100 percent volunteer with no paid employees.
