On this "Thirsty Thursday" is one of those great drinkin' songs in country music from a singer that was known as "the Singing Sheriff", Faron Young.

Young has one of the long running and popular careers in country music. He started in the early 50's and continued to have hit songs into the early 80's.

In 1961 Young recorded a song written by Willie Nelson called " Hello Walls." It went on to number one. Young was one of the first to record a Nelson song.

He was a regular on the Grand Ole Opry, made numerous television appearances. He even founded the country music magazine, Music City News.

In 1969, Young released a song that would reach number two in the summer of that. It was called "Wine Me Up."

Depressed over bad health problems, Faron Young shot himself on December 9, 1996. He died the next day.
