Wind Advisory In Effect for Friday Afternoon for South Plains and Panhandle

A Wind Advisory is in effect for most of the South Plains, Texas Panhandle and Eastern New Mexico from 12pm-9pm. Winds this afternoon will be sustained out of the southwest 25-35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Blowing dust will also be present across the region this afternoon. The dust will reduce visibility and cause potentially hazardous driving conditions.

Cities included in the Wind Advisory area are Lubbock, Littlefield, Plainview, Amarillo, Dumas, Hereford, Post and Lamesa.

Also, a Fire Weather Watch is in effect for Lea County, NM through Friday afternoon.
