In more evidence that Willie Nelson is one of the coolest people on the planet, the 82-year-old country legend has secured a role in the upcoming comedy Zoolander 2.

Access Hollywood reports that the legend will make a cameo on the sequel to the 2001 cult classic starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson as pea-brained male supermodels with hearts of gold. Nelson says he was just hanging out with his friends in Maui when the idea came up.

"Well, Owen and I are good buddies and we stay pretty close in touch," Nelson explains. "Woody [Harrelson] and all these folks — we hang out a lot in Maui. [Owen] is the one who asked me if I wanted to do it. I said, 'Let's do it.'"

Set for release on February 12, 2016, Zoolander 2 will also star Will Ferrell, Billy Zane, Justin Bieber, Fred Armisen, Olivia Munn, Kristen Wiig and Penelope Cruz. There's no word on what role Nelson will play, but the filming of his part took place in Italy, so maybe a super-stoned singing gondola driver in Venice?

Famous for his love of collaboration, Nelson has always seemed willing to do things that are out of the ordinary. He's recorded albums that fall all over the musical map, from jazz to regae to pop, and even teamed up with rapper Snoop Dogg for "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die."

Some of his memorable film roles include hilarious cameos in Beerfest and Half Baked, and a co-starring role in 1986's Stagecoach alongside Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash.

Nelson's latest project is a duets album with fellow country legend Merle Haggard called Django and Jimmie. The duo have already released their first single, "It's All Going to Pot." As always, Willie Nelson and Family will be on tour this summer, with dates scheduled all over the U.S. through the end of September.
