Willie Nelson Highlights Weekend Entertainment Possibilities [VIDEO]
You’ll have a chance to catch just about any kind of entertainment you desire this weekend in Lubbock, but the highlight has to be the Willie Nelson concert. It’s in the City Bank Auditorium Sunday night. There’s other music as well with Kenny Maines performing Friday night at Triple J Chophouse and Brew Company in the Depot District. Jr. Vasquez does his acoustic offerings the next night at the same place. And you might want to catch the Newsboys, a Christian pop-rock group, in concert at the auditorium Saturday night.
In theatrical news, there’s a fun comedy starting up at the Cactus Theatre in the Depot this weekend. “Lucy and the Outlaw” with music and comedy fit for the whole family. It runs every weekend in March. At Ragtown Gospel Theatre in Post Friday night they’ll continue with their very funny “St. John and the Televangelist”.
At South Plains College theatre you can catch “The Perils of Scaramouche” with a “Commedia d’el Arte” style (slapstick from the Renaissance era) It promises to be very funny with a different presentation every night. And at Lubbock Community Theatre you can catch the last weekend of the very serious documentary style drama, “The Laramie Project”, a look at the depths into which humanity can sink.
Don’t forget it’s First Friday Art Trail as well, wtih 15 venues participating! Contact Tornado Gallery at 19th and Buddy Holly Ave. for more info on that. So, you’ve got everything from great visual art, stage comedies and dramas to the “red-headed stranger” for your entertainment choices this weekend. Wow! Here’s my favorite Willie Nelson song.
