A holiday tradition in West Texas, Santa Land is set to fire up the festivities and kick off its 2015 season on December 10.

The grand opening ceremony is set for Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. at Mackenzie Park. Lubbock City Council members will welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus from the North Pole, turn on the Christmas lights in the winter village and officially open Santa Land. The event will open nightly from Dec. 10 - Dec. 23 from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Santa Land is a delight for kids, grandkids, parents and grandparents.Over 46,000 people visit Santa Land each year and enjoy the gigantic lit Christmas tree, animated displays, bonfires, holiday scenes and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Every evening during the 14-night event, a sleigh with tiny reindeer bring Santa & Mrs. Claus into the exhibit to hear Christmas wishes from kiddos from Lubbock and the surrounded areas.

This year, Santa has his own Elf on a Shelf, Bo, that kids can look for and also register for a chance to win an iPad Mini 2.

The entrance to Santa Land is located just of the East Broadway entrance to Mackenzie Park just  east of Avenue A and the South Plains Fairgrounds.

Cameras are welcome, and digital picture are available for $5 each. Hot chocolate and refreshments are also sold at concession stands.
