Officers responded to a shoplifting call at Walmart at 4215 S. Loop 289.

According to the report from the Lubbock Police Department, the incident took place around 2:20 a.m. Monday morning. When officers arrived, Walmart security pointed out the subjects getting into a vehicle.

The report states:

As the officer drove towards the vehicle and activated the emergency lights on his marked patrol unit, a subject, later identified as Deni Moore, W/F 33 yoa, ran to the vehicle, got in, and drove away. A pursuit began as the subject crossed a grass median, drove over a curb, and entered the access road at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit continued south on Indiana Avenue. At one point, Moore turned off the lights on her vehicle and ran the red light at 82nd and Indiana. Moore attempted to turn west onto 86th St, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into the fence of the corner residence.

After a brief foot pursuit, two people were taken into custody. Moore was transported to UMC for treatment of minor injuries. Both subjects were booked into the Lubbock County Detention center.
