Toby Keith announced his own ACM Award win during the red carpet broadcast on Sunday night. The singer was chatting with GAC-TV’s hosts when he was surprised with an envelope to open for Video of the Year. It would have been awkward had he been stopped to announce someone else’s win, but ‘Red Solo Cup’ took home the trophy.

Bob Romeo handed Keith — who was appropriately holding a red Solo cup — with the envelope and an award. Keith’s win is his first in the category since 2004′s win for ‘Beer for My Horses.’ The song is also up for a win in the Single Record of the Year category.

The singer went on to share the story behind recording the song. He compared it to some of the bus songs he’s put on previous albums, and again admitted it was amongst the stupidest he’s ever heard. But the video went viral quickly — even the cast of ‘Glee’ was caught recreating the fun.

‘Tattoos On This Town’ by Jason Aldean, ‘Just a Kiss’ by Lady Antebellum,’ ‘Homeboy’ by Eric Church and ‘Mean’ by Taylor Swift were also up for the award. It’s the third award announced before the start of the show, following Aldean’s win for Vocal Event of the Year, and Thompson Square‘s win for Vocal Duo of the Year.
