After weather cancellations early in the 2016 Texas Tech baseball season, Texas Tech has added a two-game series on April 5-6 at No. 8 Florida State.

Originally scheduled to play Abilene Christian in Midland on April 5, Texas Tech baseball will now travel to FSU before going to Stillwater for a Big 12 series April 8-10.

Don't worry, Midland residents who were planning on going to the Texas Tech contest in Midland -- the Red Raiders and ACU Wildcats have agreed to reschedule the neutral site contest for April 27.

“We appreciate the understanding of Abilene Christian and the Midland RockHounds as we worked to take advantage of this unique opportunity to play a highly ranked non-conference opponent,” Tadlock said. “We are looking forward to the challenge of going on the road to face a top-10 team. We can’t thank our administration enough for their support in scheduling this series.”

The new FSU series puts the schedule back to 55 games and replaces the two canceled games from the Cal series early in March.

The April 27 contest in Midland, meanwhile, will mark the third-straight season where Texas Tech has played a neutral-site contest in the Permian Basin. The Red Raiders have averaged over 4,000 fans in those two games after defeating New Mexico, 6-2, in 2014 and ACU, 10-2, a year ago.

“The Midland and Odessa communities are great supporters of Red Raider Baseball,” Tadlock said. “We’re looking forward to playing in the Permian Basin later this season.”
