Texas isn't the second largest state for nothing.

Houston, San Antonio and Dallas are among the 10 U.S. cities with a population of 1 million people or more reports the Census Bureau.

Texas is in the lead among states, tying with California (Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose).

Out of the 10 cities, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and Fort Worth had the largest population gains between 2013 to 2014, with each of them adding more than 18,000 people.

According to the report, San Marcos, Georgetown, Frisco, Conroe, McKinney and New Braunfels are among the top 13 fastest growing cities by percentage. San Marcos was the fastest growing city for the third consecutive year with the population climbing 7.9 percent between 2013 to 2014 to reach 58,892.
