Three more Texas Tech were selected in the third and final day of Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft Wednesday, bringing the total to six current Red Raiders that were chose by big league clubs.

It's the second consecutive season six Tech players have been drafted, and the 11th time in the past 12 drafts that at least four Tech players have been drafted.

Five of the six players chosen come from Tim Tadlock and Ray Hayward’s pitching staff. This is the sixth time in program history four or more Tech hurlers have been taken.

Junior right-hander Matt Custred  joined teammate, Matt Withrow, who was chosen in the sixth round, being selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 31st Round  and the 930th overall pick.

Custred made 15 appearances, all out of the bullpen, for Tech this past season, allowing 13 hits and holding opponents to a .206 batting average in 18 innings. He fashioned a 1-2 record with a 3.50 Earned Run Average with 14 walks and 26 strikeouts in 2015.

In three seasons with the Red Raiders, the Keller native is 2-4 with a 6.55 ERA in 26 appearances with 43 Ks over 33 innings.

The only position player selected from the Red Raider roster was shortstop Tim Proudfoot.

The Oakland Athletics drafted Proudfoot for the second year in a row Wednesday when they spent their 35th round pick, the 1058th overall pick, on the Bend, Washington native. The A’s chose Proudfoot in the 21st round of the 2014 draft.

Known for his defensive prowess, Proudfoot hit .232 with two home runs and 14 RBI during his senior campaign which was marred by injury. For his career Proudfoot  hit .252 seven homeruns, and 96 RBI. 2014 was the high-water mark for Proudfoot earning All-Big 12 Conference honors hitting .309 overall with 19 RBI while recording just two fielding errors in over 200 chances.

Proudfoot ends his Tech tenure ranked eighth in program history in career games played (185) and career at-bats (643).

Senior left-hander Cameron Smith rounded out the grup of Red Raider draftees, when for the first time in franchise history, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him with the 1,066th overall pick in the 36th round.

In 2015, the Seabrook, Texas native compiled a 6-5 record with a 2.83 ERA giving up 79 hits and 28 walks with 77 strikeouts in 89 innings  on his way to earning first-team All-Big 12 honors.

Smith ends his Tech career  with a 14-8 record with a 2.81 ERA in 39 appearances in 156.2 innings. Opponents managed only a .227 batting average against the lefty.

Three more Tech signees were drafted Wednesday bringing the total to seven prospective Red Raiders that may choose professional baseball over joining the collegiate ranks.

The Toronto Blue Jays chose Chandler Eden (Yuba City, Calif./Yavapai College)  in the 17th round , the Texas Rangers drafted Blaine Prescott (Amarillo, Texas/Midland College) in the 28th round and Aaron Coates (Newark, Del./Glasgow H.S.) was the 31st round selection of the St.Louis Cardinals.
