“The Splitza-nator” Featuring Arnold and Maria

A press statement released Monday states former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver have announced their separation, but there is no mention of divorce.  There's no reason given for the split however TMZ.com is reporting Maria has been miserable in her marriage for a long, long time.  The couple has been married for 25 years, he being a body builder turned actor; she, one of the Kennedys and probably qualified as  a ''Hollywood Marriage", which usually doesn't make the quarter century mark.

However, other spotlighted couples surviving separate lives are married couples like Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne Buydens who have been married 57 years.  Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson as well as Kevin  Bacon and his wife Kyra Sedgwick have been married 23 years.  Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman just celebrated their 25th anniversary.  Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward made 50 years just prior to his death.  And Karl and Mona Malden made it to 70 years together at his death in 2008!  Whatever the reason for the Schwartzenegger/Shriver split, it's still sad news to the world.
