I took in a movie with my granddaughter and her friend Sunday. We saw "The Smurfs" which I thought would be a boring animation. It turned out to be really enjoyable, with wonderfully-voiced itty bitty blue people with white hats and talented human stars like Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays. Voices in "The Smurfs" were provided by the great Jonathan Winters, George Lopez, Katy Perry and Jeff Foxworthy.
Tinseltown Theater's 3-D show was well-packed with parents, grandparents and kids wearing the little black rimmed glasses to enjoy smurfs flying out of the screen and onto your lap.

Jayma Mays, from "Glee" fame, plays a pregnant young wife of a young advertising executive. She says if she was a smurf, she'd be Ginger Smurf because of her red hair, and telling the Associated Press, that she'd have "really light blue skin that would burn easily, and when she did get a tan, she'd turn light blue". All ages will enjoy this film which has a developed clever plot, great characterizations, plus it's riddled with several genuine family values. Enjoy the trailer from this week's hottest family movie.
