Tyler, Texas citizen have decided to protect the offices after the recent Chattanooga shootings.

KLTV reports that the 423rd Texas Light Foot Militia led by Commander Jerry Pleasant is standing guard. Pleasant is a retired senior chief of the U.S. Navy.

The office contains recruiters from the Air Force, Navy and Marines and Pleasant says he and his militia team are ready to defend the office as armed citizens.  Pleasant told KLTV "As a citizen soldier and the member of the militia, I have the right to do that."

KLTV talked to the Marine Corps Headquarters and they said they appreciate the support of the American public but they ask that citizens do not stand guard at their public offices.
