The Texas Tech Red Raiders (3-4, 1-3) broke their four-game losing streak Saturday afternoon with a 34-21 win over the Kansas Jayhawks (2-5, 0-4) at Jones AT&T Stadium.

Even though the Red Raiders gave up 14-points off of turnovers, steady offensive play from Davis Webb and a career-high in rushing from DeAndre Washington put Texas Tech on top.

Washington's banner day finished with 164 rushing yards on 23 carries, averaging 7.1 yards per carry.

Two of Webb's touchdown passes came in the first half as he connected with Reginald Davis on a 13 yard over-the-shoulder reception (pictured) and an 8 yard pass to Bradley Marquez.

The Marquez score upped the Red Raiders lead to 17-0 with 6:57 left in the second quarter.

Kansas' lone score of the first half came after a Webb interception thrown on a 4th and 2 from the Kansas 34 yard line.  Linebacker Ben Heeney intercepted Webb's pass and returned it to the Texas Tech 39 yard line.

Seven plays after the interception, Michael Cummings found Justin McCay open behind the Tech secondary and McCay sprinted into the end zone on a 16 yard reception.  The KU touchdown made the score 17-7, Texas Tech, and that's the score the teams went into the locker room with at halftime.

Kansas received the second half kickoff and promptly went three-and-out.  After a shanked punt out of bounds, Texas Tech started their first drive of the second half at the Kansas 44.

DeAndre Washington started the drive with an 8 yard run. Then, after a Webb incomplete pass, Quinton White rushed for 8 yards to the Kansas 28 for a first down.

The drive stalled out three plays later at the Kansas 21 yard line.  Ryan Bustin came in to hit a 38 yard field goal to extend the Texas Tech lead to 20-7.

On the Jayhawks ensuing drive, Cummings was intercepted by J.J. Gaines on a downfield pass at the Texas Tech 30 yard line.

Five plays later, Webb was sacked and he fumbled the ball. It was recovered by the Jayhawks' Victor Simmons at the Texas Tech 27 yard line.

Two plays later, Cummings connected with Jimmay Mundine on a 21 yard touchdown pass.  The extra point tightened up the score to Texas Tech 20 Kansas 14, with 8:34 left in the third quarter.

With the momentum back to the Jayhawks, the Texas Tech offense responded.

Relying on the strong running game of Washington and the emergence of wide receiver Ian Sadler, the Red Raiders put together a 9 play 63 yard scoring drive. Sadler's first catch in the drive was a 36 yard reception that put Tech into the red zone at the Kansas 14 yard line.  Four plays later, Webb found Sadler again for his first career touchdown reception from 6 yards out.  Washington ran the ball four times during the drive for 12 yards.

Sadler's touchdown extended Texas Tech's lead to 27-14 with 5:10 left to go in the third quarter.

Even though they were down by 13 points, the Jayhawks weren't out of the game.

Two drives later, after the teams exchanged punts, Kansas started their next drive at their own 19 yard line.  After a Cummings 24 yard pass to Mundine, the Jayhawks crossed mid-field to the Texas Tech 42 yard line. Then, Cummings rushed for 5 yards to the Tech 37. On 2nd and 5 from 37, Cummings went deep and found Nigel King on a jump ball inside the 5. King came down with the catch at the Texas Tech 2 yard line. Two plays later, Cummings plunged into the end zone on a one yard run.

For the first time, since the first quarter, the Jayhawks were within a touchdown of the Red Raiders with the score 27-21 with three seconds left in the third quarter.

The Red Raiders next drive ended up being the final score of the game.  Relying again on DeAndre Washington's strong running game, he rushed for 18, 4 and 14 yards on three different plays during the drive.  After Washington's 14 yard carry to the Kansas 21 yard line the Red Raiders went to the ground again. This time it was Justin Stockton getting the carry and he found a hole through the middle of the KU defense to rush for a 21 yard touchdown.

Stockton's touchdown provided the final margin of victory as Texas Tech went up 34-21 with 13:21 left in the game.

Texas Tech's defense then forced a fumble, a punt and a turnover on downs to wrap up the ballgame.

Webb went 28/44 passing for 288 yards with three touchdown and one interception.

Next Saturday, Texas Tech is back on the road for a match-up with the ranked TCU Horned Frogs.  Countdown to Kickoff with Rob Snyder and Weston Odom starts at 11:30a on SportsRadio 1340 The Fan. Kickoff from Amon G. Carter Stadium is at 2:30p
