Norense Odiase tied a career-high 16 points set in the previous game in a 71-56 win over Sam Houston State Wednesday, Dec. 2 at the United Supermarkets Arena.

This was the 4th straight win for Tubby Smith and his Red Raiders.

"I was impressed with our guys," Texas Tech head coach Tubby Smith said. "We did some good things against a very solid team, especially from a defensive standpoint. Our guys are really understanding our defensive philosophy and really executed things the right way tonight. Once again, I just thought it was a good job defensively on our part."

Devaugntah Williams came away with 15 points, three rebounds and three assists. He extended his streak to six consecutive games in double figures to start the season.

This is exactly what Texas Tech has been starving for the past several seasons: a consistent scorer. If Williams can keep this up, I think Tech can continue to win and make some noise in a crowded Big 12 conference.

Toddrick Gotcher and Keenan Evans also had double figures, and Zach Smith made an impact with 14 rebounds and three blocks.

Texas Tech Scored first and never looked back. The Red Raiders carried a 38-23 lead into the locker room. Sam Houston State got it down to 8 points with 17 minutes left in the second half before Tech stretched it back out.

Texas Tech emerged with a 71-56 victory. The 15-point decision was the team’s largest margin of victory on the season.

The Red Raiders return to action with the second of three straight Wednesday games versus UT Martin. Tipoff is on-tap for 8 p.m. CT. The game will be televised by FOX Sports Southwest Plus and available with the FOX Sports Go app.
