Last night the football season ended with the Super Bowl and Peyton Manning drinking lots of Budweiser. The next real action of football comes in August with the NFL preseason and high school football getting under way.

That's the bad news. The good news is that Texas Tech will help you scratch the itch and tide you over until August. The 2016 Spring Football game officially scheduled for April 16 at Jones AT&T Stadium at 12 p.m.

If you cannot make it out to the game, you can catch it on Fox Sports Southwest.

After the Spring Football Game, you can head over to watch Texas Tech Baseball against San Diego State at 2 p.m. And if you want to make it a spectating triathlon, you can catch Texas Tech track and field team and its Red Raider Outdoor Open.

With Kliff Kingsbury at the helm, it's not likely you'll be able to attend these, but there are spring football practices beginning on Saturday, March 5.

As far as the NFL goes, Texas Tech will also host a Pro Day for its seniors on Friday, March 11 if you're into the whole draft thing.

Jakeem Grant and Pete Roberson will not be at the NFL combine so this Pro Day becomes much more important to the Texas Tech program.

Texas Tech has also now announced that they will be returning to Midland for an open scrimmage. This will be the 4th annual event in Midland. Due to the renovations being done at Jones AT&T last year, Texas Tech held its annual spring football game in Midland and the event drew over 7,500 fans. Tech also held intrasquad scrimmages/practices at Grande Communications Stadium in both 2013 and 2014.

Fans are encouraged to tailgate at the Grande Communications Stadium starting at 8 am. The free admission to the public makes this scrimmage appealing to all kinds of Tech fans. Even casual fans can enjoy tailgating in the morning before a 1 pm kickoff.
