Monday was an extremely busy day for the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park.  About three hours before game time, the Rangers held a press conference to officially welcome back outfielder Josh Hamilton.

The Hamilton trade with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was part of a flurry of transactions for the Rangers on Monday. Hamilton was added to the Rangers 40-man roster, but he remains on the 15-day disabled list (shoulder). To make room for Hamilton, pitcher Nick Tepesch was transferred to the 60-day disabled list. Relief pitcher Tanner Scheppers was optioned to Round Rock and fellow relief pitcher Alex Claudio was called up from Round Rock.

Officially, the Rangers acquired Hamilton and cash considerations from the Angels in return for a player to be named later, or cash considerations.

"This is 100 percent about how we think Josh can help our offense, help us win games and be a productive player for us," general manager Jon Daniels said during Monday's press conference.

"I'm excited to be back home," Hamilton told MLB.com. "I have a lot of good memories in Texas, a lot of big games won. For me, it is still the loudest ballpark I have ever played in. I'm excited about it. Playing baseball, being back with the Rangers and taking care of my girls, that is my priority."

Hamilton will complete his rehab at the Rangers Spring Training complex in Arizona before re-joining the major league club in mid-May.
