The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the names of the three people who were struck by a vehicle near Lubbock Monday night (Jan. 5).

The accident killed one person, 13-year-old Delicia Mendez, and wounded two others: Maria Mendez (15) and Kristy Negrete (31).

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was notified of a major crash yesterday at 6:33 p.m.  DPS troopers responded to the scene of the crash located 2.5 miles South of Lubbock on CR 2130. DPS troopers determined that a 1999 GMC Yukon was traveling northbound on CR 2130 approaching a southbound vehicle.  The driver of the Yukon, Lanny Ragland, 45, stated that he did not see three pedestrians walking their dog northbound on CR 2130.  The Yukon struck the pedestrians killing one and injuring two.  Delicia Mendez, 13, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mariah Mendez, 15, and Kristy Negrete, 31, were transported to Univeristy Medical Center in Lubbock with incapacitating injuries.  This crash is an ongoing investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
