Texas is home to at least eight types of rattlesnakes, but there are three that primarily will attack people.

According to the South Texas Poison Center the eight types are: the western diamondback rattlesnake; timber rattlesnake; prairie rattlesnake; Mojave rattlesnake; blacktail rattlesnake; western rattlesnake; and pygmy rattlesnake.

The western diamondback, timber rattlesnake and prairie rattlesnake are the most aggressive. The Western Diamondback is the biggest snake in Texas, with some of them reaching 7-and-a-half-feet long.

There's no parenting in rattlesnakes; their babies can find food as soon as they're born.

If you've been bitten, early symptoms include pain, blurred vision, blood from the wound, dizziness, excessive sweating, fainting, loss of muscle coordination, swelling, weakness, rapid pulse, nausea and vomiting.

Long-term effects include loss of limb, decreased mobility and tissue death at the site of the injury. Of course, untreated bites can lead to death.

Here's a video taken near Post. I've been told the snakes are mating, not fighting. Either way, it's pretty creepy:
