Suspicious Death Reported at Homer’s Backyard Ball in Amarillo

A man involved in some sort of altercation at Homer's Backyard Ball died after being taken to an Amarillo hospital's Emergency Room.

KAMR reports that Amarillo police have identified the victim as 43-year-old Michael Glen Wilcox. The report says there was an altercation with a group Wilcox was with and another group of people.

Security personnel reportedly became involved with the altercation, and several members took out pepper spray, a baton and stun guns.

Wilcox was brought to the ground and handcuffed. At some point, he became unresponsive and appeared to stop breathing. An ambulance was called and someone on the scene began Life-saving measures.

Wilcox was pronounced dead after arriving at a local hospital's Emergency Room. An autopsy will be performed Thursday in Lubbock.
