While driving back from Colorado this summer, I started thinking about a silly comedy with music set in the Old West. Ta-Da! The end result is "Ransom at Dry Gulch," a fun family show opening this Saturday at the Cactus Theatre in the Depot District. I play "Belle," kind of a "Miss Kitty" - type saloon-owner in Dry Gulch, Texas. The plot finds Belle's daughter kidnapped by an outlaw who just happens to be her daddy, who decides to put her up for ransom and use her as his ante in a poker game!

Puns and jokes surround a bevy of characters like Belle's daughter, Ima Little (Mariel Morgan); Priscilla Purdy (Ashley Hays) Princess of the Piano; Deputy Willie "I'm gonna get a gun someday" Ketcham (Mike Morgan); Cattleman John T. BigHamm (Kurt Kiser); Banker Fineas P. Dunlevy (Mark Martin); Bartender Baby Face Jake (Colton Kiser); Diamond Jim Shady (Jeff Bailey); and Outlaw Tom Dooley (Jere Lowe). And of course we'll have music. Sixteen songs ranging from Travis Tritt's, "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" to Steve Holy's, "Brand New Girlfriend" will add to the mayhem.
Come join us for a lot of fun and great music. Saturdays, Oct 1-Nov 12.
