This past Saturday, March 26, another high-value illegal drug seizure occurred in the Texas Panhandle.

According to Texas DPS, just before 1 p.m. a trooper stopped a 2010 Ford Focus for a traffic violation on US 87 near Dumas in Moore County. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted the troopers to the presence of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.

After a brief search, the trooper discovered several vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana which were located in the trunk. According to DPS, the marijuana weighed almost 28 pounds. The drugs' alleged street value is over $167,000.

The two occupants inside the Ford Focus were arrested. They are 27-year-old Joseph Faught, and 19-year-old Alexis Faught, both of Highlands, Texas. They were booked into the Moore County Jail and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Both Faughts bonded out within 48 hours.

The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from La Junta, Colorado to Highlands, Texas.
