Former Lady Raider and 1340 The Fan's Greatest Texas Tech Athlete of All-Time Sheryl Swoopes is now in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2017 Class.

According to TexasTech.com, Swoopes joins a six-member class that includes Sally Bell (official), Christine Grant (contributor), Rick Insell (coach), Louise O'Neal (veteran) and Kara Wolters (player).

The Class of 2017 will be inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame on June 10, in Knoxville, Tennessee. The mission of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is to "honor the past, celebrate the present, and promote the future" of women's basketball.

Swoopes played two seasons for Texas Tech and led the Lady Raiders to their first NCAA Championship in 1993. She was the Player of the year that same year. Swoopes had continued success after her career at Texas Tech, winning three Olympic gold medals. She was also a star in the WNBA and led the Houston Comets to four WNBA Championships.
