Shania Twain Takes Role in New Racing Movie
Trading Paint follows the story of "a down-and-out dirt track racing legend" who finds himself involved in the sport once again when his son, an aspiring driver himself, joins a rival team. The situation "incites an intense and dangerous competition between father and son."
John Travolta stars in Trading Paint; according to IMBD.com, he portrays the character of Sam. Also involved are Tony Sebastian (who plays Cam) and Kevin Dunn (as Stumpy); Twain has the role of Becca, though additional details about her character have not been revealed.
Crews have begun filming Trading Paint in Alabama; the shooting schedule runs through mid-September. Karzan Kader is directing, while Craig Welch and Gary Gerani wrote the script; the film's producers are Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, Silvio Muraglia and Alexandra Klim.
"It’s well know that dirt track racing is one of the most exciting sports in the world, and it’s also one of the most dangerous," Iervolino says. "Our story is rooted in that high-speed danger, but also very much character driven, and this is where having someone of John’s caliber and gravitas pays great dividends.”
Trading Paint is being produced and financed by Ambi Pictures and Paradox Studios. AMBI Distribution is in charge of worldwide sales.
In addition to this new movie role, Twain is preparing for the release of a new studio album, Now. The record is due out on Sept. 29.
