California-based country singer Ry Bradley stopped by the Lonestar 99.5 studio in Lubbock Thursday (March 12) to perform "Freedom Like This," the title track off his new album, live and unplugged.

Speaking to Lonestar 99.5 DJ Doug Brannson, Bradley explained the meaning behind the song and how it isn't exactly what people might expect.

"It's about just getting in the car, getting with your sweetie and getting out of town," Bradley explained. "A lot of people they think...it's a patriotic song, but it's really just about that freedom to get in your car and do whatever you want."

Tackling the question about the differences between California and Texas country, Bradley said that he counts California-born singer Merle Haggard as a big inspiration, as well as Dwight Yoakam and The Eagles.

Bradley performs live at the Texas Cafe and Bar in Lubbock tonight, Thursday, March 12.
