Sometimes taking the backroads is the best way to travel as we saw all kinds of animals and old school scenery.

We made the 500 mile round trip in a day and spent time at Mescalaro Sand dunes, Bottomless Lake State Park, Roswell, and historical Lincoln, NM.

The wildlife we saw everywhere was amazing, from Pronghorn, lizards, vultures and more. It was a very relaxing trip with beautiful scenery and history. The Capitan Mountains about an hour West of Roswell are very underrated. You can really get close and see some amazing nature.

It you're looking for a weekend or even a day trip head West, it's worth it!
