Ayumi Yanagisawa, a correspondent for the Japanese broadcaster NHK, was working in a tiny seaside town when the earthquake hit almost a year ago. Her first instinct was to pick up her camera. She filmed the disaster as she ran away. Stationed at the national broadcaster's Ishinomaki headquarters in Miyagi prefecture, Ayumi was working in Ogatsu on the north east coast of Japan when disaster struck on March 11 2011. Hard to believe that it has been almost a year since the earthquake and tsunami struck. Picking up her camera as she felt the tremors from the 9.0 magnitude earthquake, the 25-year old filmed scarcely believable scenes as she made it to higher ground and recorded the resultant tsunami laying waste to the seaside town. Here is the video that ultimately tells her story about the earthquake and tsunami.
