It's call the second season. It's when conference play begins and hopefully your team is ready. The Texas Tech Red Raiders will find out if they are when they open the Big 12 season against Oklahoma State in Stillwater tonight.

The Red Raiders are coming off a 62-54 win over Southeastern Louisiana and sporting a 7-5 record.

Oklahoma State lost to Virginia Tech 67-61 this past Saturday in Stillwater.\ and are 7-6 so far this season.

This is a familiar Big 12 opener for both teams in that they have faced each other five times in the opener. The Cowboys hold a 1-4 edge over Tech in the conference opener.

Tech's main go to guy will be Jordan Tolbert. He was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week. The freshman has scored 20 or more points in four straight games, five overall.

The 6-7 Tolbert is third in the nation in scoring among freshman averaging 15.4 points per game. He also is fifth in the conference in scoring and ranks 11th in rebounding and is second in field goal percentage.

That first game in conference play is important. You always want to get off to a good start. No doubt coach Gillispie will have his team ready to go.
